i dont get why some people are so protective of hatchery trout in the McKenzie?? There are several areas that get stocked in the area,just a little further from Eugene. junction city pond,leaburg lake,i believe blue river res gets stocked and just about all of the reservoirs on the willamette to. theres no need for hatchery fish contending with the redsides plus all of the bait fishing that comes with stocker fishing impacts them even more. lures and flies is the way to go.

Here is a few bills on my watch list and some more I found and added while searching for “the” bill – that would make anything flyfishing only....

I can not find anything even remotely close to making the McKenzie fly fishing only.

Anyway, I just don't have the time to look through all the bills (or much else) as I finish up my presentation for next week. So if anyone comes up with a bill #, could you please post it so I can add it to my watch list.....

This may have to do with Senate Bill 626.

Relating to the Quality Fresh Waters Program.

Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:

SECTION 1. { + (1) To the extent practicable and at no
additional cost, using existing resources, the State Department
of Fish and Wildlife shall undertake a study of creating a
program, to be known as the Quality Fresh Waters Program, that is
devoted to enhancing the ability of the department to develop and
protect unique angling opportunities
(McKenzie River native trout only?) that contribute to the
reputation of Oregon as a world-class angling destination.
(2)(a) The Quality Fresh Waters Program shall focus on the
following areas:
(A) Fish management practices;
(B) Fish research projects;
(C) The protection and restoration of fish habitat; and
(D) Enforcement efforts.
(b) The department shall study how to best implement each focus
area specified in this subsection within the context of the
Quality Fresh Waters Program.
(3) The department shall study the feasibility of increasing
the fees charged to nonresidents for angling licenses, as well as
other proposals, to fund the Quality Fresh Waters Program.
(4) The department shall report the results of the study, and
shall include recommendations for legislation, including but not
limited to those related to a long-term dedicated funding source
to implement the Quality Fresh Waters Program, to the interim
legislative committees on environment and natural resources on or
before November 1, 2012. + }

There should be more info and detail about all of this soon.

Dave, I am guessing you are correct. It's always amazing to me how various folks interpret things they are told, or read so differently. I guess the world be pretty boring if folks all thought about things the same way though.

The oregon senate bill number is 626-b the quality fresh waters program. If you google this, it actually shows in many different links where this is at in the process.

I work 50 hours a week so please dont go preaching to me about how you work for a living.everything you have posted is nothing more then creating waves as you have said.

NOTHING IN THIS BILL YOU HAVE POSTED REMOTELY SAYS ANYTHING ABOUT FLYFISHING ONLY.or the mckenzie for that matter

the bill chad posted also says nothing to support your outrageous claims.
