Great presentation John, thanks. Those of you who didn't make it missed out. It was fun and informative.

John i just thought of a question i didn't ask. I didn't notice it on your flies, but do you crimp barbs? The Carp being such a resilient fish and that soft, fleshy pretty mouth they have seems like it could slip a hook real easy. Obviously Trout, Steelhead, etc barbless is always a good idea but Carp being so abundant and tough....

Thanks Van...that was really fun! I had a good time talking carp and showing some pictures. Nice to mee you and everyone else.

As for barbs, I pinch em. I don't really think a barb does much to help keep a fish hooked, but they do cause damage to the fish, and if you stick yourself it can get real nasty. With that in mind, I fish barbless all the time. First thi g I do before putting a hook in the vice is pinch the barb...just habit.

I explored today. It is still too cold...but there are fish around if you can find shallow, warm spots. We need sun badly.
