Default First post! Sturgeon report

Hello all,

My name is Tom and this is my first post here with a report from last Saturday 10-27.

I loaded up my 14 ft smokercraft looking for sturgeon. With my brother as crew, we planned on heading out of Chinook landing and fishing the mouth of the Sandy river where it dumps into the Columbia. The wind was kicking up pretty good at Troutdale, so we decided to head over to the Willamette and put in at Willamette park and fish around the Sellwood bridge.

The launch was very quiet and the motor started on the second pull. We headed upstream to just below the bridge and found a deep hole and anchored just above it. We had a hard time staying put with the wind blowing from the north, so I deployed the second anchor and we started getting bit. Sandshrimp with worms and some sturgeon scent was working best. I also got a couple using shad. 5oz. cannonball sinker.
Nothing real big on a spotty bite. After a couple of shakers we decided to head upstream by the golf course. We anchored up on the east side of the river by the pump house and found a great bite.

No keeper size fish, but well worth the time and effort.

A great day on the river with great company.

Excellent writing style, makes me want to kick back with a pot of tea and reminisce(sp?). Welcome to OFF! I can't wait to hear more adventures and maybe even get together to make a few...
