Default St. Helens Sturgeon

I hooked up with Dixiefisher and met at the Gilbert river boat ramp on Sauvie Island today. We fished 2 holes down stream from the ramp close to the mouth of the Willy. We caught 4 shakers, but no keepers. It was hot and windy, it was very hard to keep the boat from swaying back and forth even using the trolling motor and a sea anchor while anchored. It still was a good time and made a new friend from the site. At least I'm not posting on "that" thread! Got the skunk off a new setup and caught my first couple sturgeon.

I am going to try for them pretty soon. It is my goal to catch all species of fish that reside in Oregon. Right now I have Five. That is so sad considering how many more I have to catch. Thanks for the report and nice job.

Ron,
Had a great time man...I really wish the fish would have cooperated...but no matter, it was great to meet you and I am hoping to get together more often.....btw....that bent rod shot is great, it was cool to see you snare one on your rig!......until later!

Default Thanks Girlzluvfishin and JTLunker!

It's always exciting fishing for a new species of fish. I'm always open to learn to fish for a new species, and would be more than willing to teach others to fish for species I am familiar with. I have fished for most of the species Oregon has to offer except for a few marine species and am hoping to add a few of them to my list of many soon. I will be posting for open seats on my boat from time to time and hope I can meet up with more of the members of this forum to try our hand at fishing. I've already fished with a couple of our members and have made good friends with them and I hope new fishing partners of them often in the future. I'll try to post for open seats sooner than in the past so we can hook up and wet our lines. Until then, tight lines and good luck.

Is there any options for bank fishing for Sturgeon fishing in NW OR? I would love to get a taste of that!

There's lots of places to go from the Oregon City Falls to The Columbia on the Willamette, and the Columbia it self. I've watched some catch keeper fish from the boat dock at the Gilbert river boat ramp on Sauvie Island.
