Default HOT! Steelhead Report on the E. Fork Coquille. PICS no 56K!

Went fishin on Friday on the E Fork Coquille and it was awesome. Low waters and clear. Caught 5 myself and had alot of fun. Caught one 10 lbs that was so beautiful for April the second one. Wish they werent all wild. Here some pics oh and the big one is 40 inches long, not sure on the weight though, thought I had the oregon record. Pretty sure its the Coquille record.

Thanks
And I am new
Dan

That's awesome. Nice haul. Love to see the rod bent over like that. I sure bet that was a helluva rush. Thanks for sharing.

Amazes me that oyu can catch fish that big in a river that is like 20 feet across. Got to love it. Took about 20 mins to get the big one in. 3 inches shy of the record and dont know about weight, it was easy 25lbs.

Well, the state-record is 35.5# out of the Columbia in 1970 according to ODFW. I couldn't find the length and girth of that fish. If you measure the fish's length and girth (at it's largest), there is a formula to estimate the fish's weight. I would not doubt that it could be a river record. A 25+ steel is pretty big for a smaller river. Great job...I wish I could've been there.

((Girth*Girth)/Length)/800=Fish's weight in #.

Well damn, the record I found was off ESPN and was in 2005 after the last record in 1973 and it was 28lbs 10oz. and 43 inches.

ESPN.com - Oregon steelhead is largest in three decades

But your right it does mention that slug of a metalhead....!
