Default new water

did a new water exploration today and i didnt turn any fish, my buddy did 2 for 3. the water we hit had no sign other than one other set of footprints, looked like from yesterday - no junk, no garbage and there was tons of old growth all around. non stop hiking from roughly 7 this morning until 5 this evening - spoted nearly 10 fish, and my buddy took one of em on a purple n pink jig in about 10 feet of water. when i say non stop hiking we cover nearly 8 round trip miles to do those fish, only fishing spots for about 10-15 minutes. all native and released with the utmost care to go on an spawn....

will post a pic or two later on this week when i get them outta the cam...

what a sweet day!!!

Great job. It's always nice to find new water, and to see that it's lot littered with trash. Can't wait to see some pics.

Exclamation Good on you...

Nice to have those places here to visit, there is a place on the South Fork of the Mackenzie above Cougar Res. that is all old growth and the fishing is very good. Like you said the walk is worth the effort when you get to enjoy such great scenery, and no trash. Looking forward to your pictures.

Well their are no Steelhead up there but the Trout are about the same size as Steelhead. If your a Spinner and Spoon angler you will have a great time, not that a fly angler won't be very happy just ask Mokai...he schooled me one fine day last year...about 10 to one his favor..Great place in the French Pete Wilderness area.

prefer to huck a fly for them trout - summer steel as well, however i dont do so hot for the winters with flys, i go with jig n bobber or drifting an aleech with a gear rod. i haven't invested yet in the sink tips n such, so my fly setup wont get it down to the feeeshes - the reason i use the gear rod. prefer artificials, sometimes bait and not so good with the spinners - only a couple ever with spinners. i go with what i know - jig n bobber.

thanks for the heads up on that stream, hope to someday get down there and check it.... have a shoulder surgery coming up so i have to get this fishin outta the way as i wont be able to even hold a rod for about 4-5 months!!!

Wow man what a bummer, I had hand surgery a couple years ago and learned to cast with my other arm....what a crazy experience. Hope all goes well, maybe when your healing up you could do some scouting at least you would be getting out. Take care and be well.

Default New Water

Sure envy you finding untouched water! Wish I was young enough to search such spots out. Without giving away the area you found, what body of water are you talking about?
