Hey everyone, I've been a lurker for awhile and this is my first post. I'm going out Wednesday morning with some friends and we are thinking about the N or S Santiam for some Steelhead, springers or trout.
Does anyone have suggestions of a good spot to go for something that might be in the river now? I was hoping the springer might be in the area by now since the water's warming up. Thanks! |

You could try any one of the state parks along highway 22. I prefer Pack Saddle, but watch out for the signs. There's a tree with a bright red stripe on it with a sign that says NO FISHING to the left of it. The game warden is a super nice guy, but he accepts excuses only once. Have a great time. Barb

Thanks for the reply! I'll give it a try and hopefully we'll get some bites or better. Either way, it will be great to learn a new area.Todd |

Hang in there, keep trying - never say die. It took me quite a while to catch my first Steelhead, but once I did the numbers started to climb. I love to use spinners and a spinning rods in creeks..but I did catch my first jig fish on the Sataim below Sweethome near Albany, heck of a day....nothing like a 30 inch in a small creek and a case of the #@$, well just hang in there and keep trying.
