But I can't find any License or other regs on the ODFW website.
Course that's not surprising, I can never find what I'm looking for on there.
Anybody know what the regs are?
Anything other than regular fishing Lic. required?
What about traps?
Some states have restrictions on trap size and mesh size.
And what about teke limits?

Do you actually need a fishing license to catch crawdads?

With the water temps this high not very good take unless it's cold water up high.

I've murdered crayfish wading in the umpqua in hot and dry weather like we've been having, and in some coastal streams. There is definitely verbiage in the regs about crayfish though. Offhand, taking crayfish for bait and using them in different waters is way illegal... The limit is on page 22 of the regs, 100 per day, 2 limits in possession.

Tualatin just had its annual crayfish festival and I was bummed I missed it, but it was just too damned hot and I didn't want to leave the dog at home all day or drag her around in the heat.

From the reg book:

"Resident Annual Shellfish License $7.00--Same qualifications as Resident Annual Angling License (see page 3 under Licenses, Tags and Permits)."

Does that apply, to crawdads? Not sure.

More info:

"Live crayfish may not be used as bait; and live crayfish taken for bait may not be released into Oregon water--except in the water body in which they were taken."

Hope some of that, is helpful.

As far as I'm able to determine that only pertains to marine shellfish.

License is not required for crayfish and you can keep 100 per person per day as previously mentioned
