Where might a noob find a salmon or a steelhead?

Hi guys, I randomly have the day OFF and am super eager to catch my first Willamette Valley chrome. I haven't caught a salmon or a steelhead in years and I would love to feel that excitement and satisfaction again. I forget what that feels like  lol. If you HAD to catch a salmon or a steelhead today, around PDX, where might you go? Any pointers would be genuinely appreciated.

Clackamas or Sandy seems like the obvious answer, if one doesn't have a boat. Meldrum Bar if you have heavy plunking gear.

Move from the crowds of Portland or buy some combat boots!

You guys, he moved to Eugene. There are fish available without a three-hour drive from Eugene.. ;)

Taco, you got a boat, or not?

edit: dang, I missed the part where he said he was in PDX right now :D

Grab a handful of bluefoxes and head to the upper sandy above cedar creek. Be persistent and you'll get 1
