SANDY RIVER
SMELT

• Open for smelt dipping Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 15, from 6 a.m. until noon.
• Bank only fishing, restricted to dip nets, and bag limit is 10 pounds per person.
• Anglers do not need a license to harvest smelt.

Any sandy smelt report?

Haven't seen a report of any yet. Stay tuned.

Looks like an opportunity to get my non-fishing friends out on the river for a picnic. I am trying to find a decent long handled net without spending too much, any suggestions?

Did not see any smelt in Sandy river at Troutdale last Saturday when I was there. Water was low and clear.
