It's the old adage that "big fish EAT little fish". So troll something that, looks like a fish and BAM!

Those methods are good for early season kokes too. I'll run the riggers at 15 with a 50 to 100 setback and top line further back early on. Keep the leaders 30 inches or more to keep a dodger from impairing the action of the plug, less if the lure has no action of its own. I'll run 12 inch leaders to hoochies which are my favorite. Good long setbacks are needed for spooky fish on bright days or heavy boat traffic. Making sweeping turns to top water schools can put your gear on them without getting close to the boat.
