Not sure about it but

I've heard that fishing a jig/lure/bait below a bobber is a good technique for steelhead.
Just wondering how to determine the depth of the river?
Do you set the offering deep and if it bounces on the bottom raise it a foot?
I'm wondering if I'd need a slip float rig to fish the Will-AM-ette here where it runs through Eugene?

Yes exactly that.

Good luck to you!

An adjustable bobberstop is key.

Take an educted guess. If a properly weigted bobber sits straight up, it' OFF the bottom. If it points downstream a bi, it's htting bottom, and shoud be adjutsed up until it sits up straight.

I prefer a float with a wire for jig fishing. It really tells you what your jig is doing.

I'm obviously gonna need to choose a bobber system to go with if I'm gonna try this.
Still in the study information stage. I try to learn as much as I can before I start buying stuff. Save a lot of wasted dollars.
