Anyone catching salmon on the Alsea this season?

My neighbor caught a 16 pounder a few days ago but I haven't heard of any others yet. I won't be home until the 3rd of Sept but I sure hope they are biting when I get there.
Pics and stories are appreciated. I'm fishing vicariously through you guys while I'm out on the road.

Wow. Your neighbor lucked out. It's mighty early, for Nooks that far upstream. We haven't had any rain, to speak of. Nor have water temps cooled yet. There won't be many moving up, until the fall rains begin (and the water temps cool into the 50's). You'll be back in plenty of time, for the real action!

I think you are getting back at a perfect time, our central coast rivers should be smokin' hot that week, or the week after...

It was probably a stray summer fish.... I'm pretty sure it's closed up that high as well..

Think tidewater until the first rains..

Thanks for the info. I hope the fishing gets hot in the next few weeks.

SWMBO tells me that there have been 8 more caught in the past few days. It sounds like I may be timing this well.

Those fish won't be above tidewater for a good while

Thanks for letting me know. I'm new to this stuff. I've been out on the road way too long.
