Greetings all,

I am planning a trip to the Wilson on Sept 29-30 2011. Any tips regarding flies, tackle, and technique will be GREATLY appreciated.

I would be thrilled catching natives and not strongly motivated for Salmon but if they are in...

The Wilson looks like great water and I cannot wait to drift a line.

Thanks for your information!!

I suggest you try the archives under wilson river and look at the wilson river interactive map. -Brad

Thanks Brad. I have been studying the archives and have already linked the interactive map to my fovorites on IE. Geat tool for sure.

From what I read the Wilson has many personalities as one travels up the river.

I look forward to getting more information regarding fly recipes, techniques and terminal gear.

may I suggest you also study the Trask, the wilson can be slow when the trask is hot, and vice versa, and they are only 20 minutes apart-

Great suggestion Brad!

The Sea Run Cutthroat are in, and are fun to catch. You can order some Borden Specials here (and likely have them delivered prior to your departure). Mitch is a great guy and awesome fly fisherman:

Here is the latest Weekly Rec Report:

And you will want to check page 33 of the reg book for open waters, species, for the Trask & Wilson, etc. (as well as pg. 26 for NW Zone regs).

All really great information. I really appreciate all your efforts to assist.

I have tied some of Borden Specials and cannot wait to see how they work.

Tight lines!!

The Borden Specials were developed specifically for SRC's on the Alsea River. There are 2 old timers that visit Two Rivers Fly shop in Albany. When they come in, they clean Mitch right out of whatever he has tied...sometimes a couple of dozen or more! So, they must work well. I don't see why they would also not work well on other rivers, for the same specie.

Good luck; and let us know how you do.
