    Lake Harriet 09-18-2011

Well I was finally able to get some time to make a decent trip this Saturday. I decided to take my daughter up and hike into Lake Harriet. We got to Varney Creek trail head around 9 and hiked in, it took us around 3 hrs to get to the lake. Just started to skirt the lake and of course fish at the same time and Bam fish on. It was the first brookie of the day. We ended up catching 5 in all and had and awesome time. Two hours later we were at the car and heading home. If anyone is up for the hike it is well worth the trouble to get in there.

You are aware you can drive up to harriet or did you just took the trail for the excecise?

Nice fish but the Harriet Lake in the picture is not the one I'm familiar with. Where was that one?

That would explain why this post was listed in the "Fishing in Southwest Oregon" section. Beautiful fish you have there. Can you give us a little more descriptive location for the lake? Not that I'm up to hiking in that far but I would love to see the general area sometime.

It's Harriette, and is between Lake of the Woods and Aspen lake. It's got a decent write up (two paragraphs) in my Fishing in Oregon book.

Oops.. My bad. I have seen it spelled both ways but chose the wrong one. Yea it is a great lake that I fished as a kid and wanted to check out again. Like Modest Man said it is near Lake of the Woods.

As an after thought here is a link to the Wilderness area that it is in.
