Oops. Luckiamute river is not open for fishing.
I didn't do it. It was not me.

Don't feel too bad about it. The first time I was there I was knocking the bass and pike minnows dead. Found out the next day that it is artificial flies and lures only.....
It will be available after opening day for streams, but trout are catch and release year round there.

There's trout if you get up around Fall City. There's smallmouth and squawfish in the rest of it.

My favorite place to fish for smallmouth on the Luckiamute is right where it flows into the Willamette at Buena Vista. Put in at the ferry and motor up (or row) into the mouth and it is great stuff. One evening at dusk I tied on a really small rust colored jig that I tied (kinda like a crappie jig) and skimmed it along the top in about 2'' strips very fast and I hit fish after fish after fish. All nice smallmouth. Ran into a guy one time that is part of a little club in the valley and they have tournaments there every now and then. If your boat floats high enough you can get about a mile and a half up stream. One afternoon there I saw a smallmouth that was so damn massive I though it was a carp at first! Great stuff check it out.
