Default Newport Trip

Well went fishing today in Newport and it was gorgeous!!!! Not a cloud in the sky, no wind, literally the trip I have been waiting for since last year.
Didn't catch anything, but that is just fine with me. I did have one HUGE take though. On the downfall something just ripped off like two feet of line, open spool, so hard I almost backlashed but it was gone before I could click the handle and set the hook. That got my adrenals going. I imagine it was a Greenling or something. Almost caught a Seagull also. I'm reeling in my line and I look up just in time to see it flaring up over my bait and started to go down until I yelled at it and it flew off hahaha.
The bar was pretty bad... Right before dusk the Coast Guard motored out and sat just inside the jetty. Far out past the bad stuff I could the top of a fishing boat bobbing around and going back and forth, then they went for it. Way up in the air then out of site. Way up in the air in a totally different place left to right, then out of site etc. They made it in but boy I hope they took their Dramamine. It calmed down a lot later on around dark. My uncle used to be a tournament shark fisherman in Florida and he had a saying for people that got sick on his boat. "The next time we go out, I'm makin sure you eat sardines beforehand so at least you're chummin at the same time." hahaha (take a guess how I found that out). Anyhow, great GREAT trip. As I sit in my chair, I still have that residual feeling like I'm still in the boat. My chair feels like it's moving all around underneath me and I'm loving it!! My sister is over there on a trip with her boyfriend and she's gonna call me at 9 am, and if it's the same as today I'm going again! Might hook up my lantern and stay out after dark Cheers!!!
