I have to vote with Troutski on this one. I have nothing but admiration for those that venture out into the ocean in boats, and I am scared as hell of the jetties ever since I was hit by a rogue wave. I have enough trouble considering the purchase of a float tube for use in a lake, for fear the current from the dam might sweep me up!

I'm sorry about your fobia. I know well what you feel! I have a terrible fear of hieghts, since an accident at work several years ago.

You still gotta have the "Stones", which I don't have. The nice thing about the Northwest is their are so many places to fish that none of them gets overly crowded. Except maybe buoy 10.

Buoy 10 is like downtown Portland. Well most of the time.

One of my fondest fishing memories was at rockaway beach. I was camping with my family and I went out just before dark with a cheap fishing rod my dad had. I cast a rooster tail out about where the waves started breaking... I caught a little lingcod... or sea trout (like 12"). maybe they are the same. I didn't believe my dad that there were fish that close to the beach until i caught one.

If you can get out there should be plenty of big lingcod around. I keep watching the weather forecasts but I'm little nervous about heading over the passes from the valley. |
