I have been using shad for years with great success. Last trip was at T-bay in December. Easy limits of hard shell large spiders. Always use bait cages and stuff'm full.

I was thinking Sealion would make good crab bait.

Default Dogfish doesn't work

When I was younger and would go crabbing in the San Juans (Northern WA) we would use chicken and fish carcasses with great success. While bottom fishing we caught a lot of dogfish and decided to keep some for crab bait. More like crab repellent!

Default crabbing/oregon coast

Hi There, I live in Coos Bay, and we crab here frequently. We found that turkey legs work really well. The crab seem to like going after something a little bigger, and we seem to catch bigger crabs that way. The legs are very inexpensive, and we have hours of fun that way. Good luck crabbing to all of you.

Hey there, I agree with the racing, am an avid Nascar fan. On a nice day tho, it's fun to be outside enjoying the sea and sun. Who's your driver? Mine is Ryan Newman. Have a great day.

I'll chime in, I have used mostly Chicken and Turkey with good success. I usually crab out of Garibaldi or Seaside, although Garbaldi appears to be running short this time of year, at least that's what I've heard from some regulars out there.

I haven't really decided on a driver since Dale Earnhardt died. I'm on a race team that races in Lebanon on the dirt track there. Our cars are Late Model Outlaws, here's a link to Joey's site. He's the team owners son who drives one of the Late Models. Dirt Late Model Driver Joey Tanner - Portland, Oregon

In Newport Bay the local shops carry mink carcasses for crab bait. It's oily and stinky and calls them in for some distance.
