plunking? 3oz bobber? jigs? sand shrimp and eggs? prawn tails + spin and glow? |

all of the above except the 3oz bobber, use 1oz floats at the largest. I use 1/8oz floats.
Don't forget spinners and plugs. |

keeper size? unless you hook a smolt or a wild fish it's a keeper...
all finclipped chinook that are RETURNING from sea are keep able. Smolt are not returning, they are outbound - upsize your gear (hooks) to prevent hooking them.. to be an Adult salmon it must be over 24". Jacks are subadult's that return after a year in saltwater and average in the 18" range.. You may harvest finclipped jacks. you may not havest smolt regardless of whether it's clipped or not. You dont want to be tossing small spinners like roostertails ect, they will mainly catch smolt. use #4 or bigger spinners.. Spinners are very common on the clack. I caught my first Clackamas springer ever, and my first steelhead ever out of the clackamas on a plug - the same plug on the same day actually way back in 5th grade on my birthday.. #1 and #2 are backtrolling plugs/spinners or side drifting bait if I really want to get a new guy into a fish on the clackamas. |

I have caught a lot of nooks on the Clack. in the last 25 yrs. - here's how I rig : large slidding bobber ( WEST COAST FOAM BOBBER ) do not use those Salmon Stalker bobbers they are heavy and not very bouyant. 4' 30lb. Maxima
leader , egg loop and yarn on a 2/0 or 3/0 hook - the yarn makes it much easier to pull the line out and reload your bait. Other end of leader tied to a barrel swivel . Main line is 50 lb. braided Tuff Line . For lead I use 2 2 oz. egg sinkers , the main line runs through the center of these . This may seem like a heavy set - up but remember you are fishing for big springers in the fast deep water of a spring run-off. My rod is a 8'6" Kinai King Lamiglass. Fish every hole you can find below the dam at Mciver Park , go deep just above the bottom. Bait - I use eggs and live sand shrimp together , sometimes shrimp are hard to come by , so soak your eggs in sand shrimp oil. I have never had much luck on spinners - but have seen them work late in the year ( AUG) - I do not bother to start untill end of May and I have caught bright fish all the way into Aug. when no one is around anymore. I use the same set up on the Sandy. Life is uncertain , but my salmon rig is not. |

![]() these the ones you're talking about? with the flimsy tips? what about their counterparts that look the same by danielson that look exactly the same but the tips are made of plastic(like a drinking straw)? or is there no real difference in quality between the two? The OR. DEPT. OF USELESS WONKS just posted the rules for fall fish at Bonneville - one of the last productive nook fisheries that does not require a 30,000$ boat . Adult nooks Sept. 1-16 , last year we had almost 2 months.
I wish I was a rich man so I could sue their asses off. It just never ends in this state . Of course the gill netters can do what they want. I guess it is time to spend my money in Wash. where they give a damn. |

Yeah between the bonneville "season" and how short they are giving us to fish B10 in the fall it's nuts. I don't think they will be able to do this very long..
The clack is open year round still. |
