Default License Fees to Increase?

Just heard on the radio that ODFW is going to be holding hearings in order to decide if hunting and fishing license fees should be increased. They are considering a $6 increase for angling fees, and $10 for combined hunting/angling fees.

I will pay whatever it takes to fish!! But that always hurts the turnout and attraction to fishing. Thirty some dollars may seem like to much for a person getting into the sport.

Post Fees....

The thing about fishing fees is this, if you go once a year yea it is to expensive, so I go 200 times a year; this way I get my dollars worth. 30 divided by 200 is .....well I was never a math major, but thats pretty cheap. Just my opinion...

Now thats a great way to view the situation and come out with a positive outlook But seriously if they think they need it so be it maybe they wont have to kill so many smolts next year cause they might have the money to pay the guys to clip fins.

-cheers

When you know your coming down let me know and all you have to do is to drive to Springfield, the rest will be on me. Kinda like a guided trip, for free - almost you still have to get to Springfield. It cost me about 12.00 dollars to do the round trip counting boat gas.....some times I love my boat, other times when the weather is ruff I wish for a windshield and side curtains, but with all that stuff their goes the gas mileage... I mean it if your coming down let me know we can work out the details.
Before the algae bloom hits.....each year in the early summer Blue Green Algae (toxic strain) bad stuff. I know each fish by their first name, they all go by Troutski I look forward to meeting you.

Are there going to be public hearings on this? I, too, fish nearly 200 times a year, but the majority of the time I still have to pay another fee for every trip also. $2 @ Vernonia or Selmac, $5 or $6 at Hagg Lake, other county parks $2 to $4, State Parks $5-$9. It all adds up. At a lowball average of $3 that's over $600/year in additional taxes to fish?

What does my license get me?

I have one of the USFS ($30 per year) passes and it pays for ramp usage on most of my boat ramps and any state park in Oregon , Washington and Idaho...although I do need another one for county parks, but I rarely use them.
You could contact your local ODFW office and ask about public input and when the meeting is going to take place and where.
As far as what does your license get you....a get out of jail free card when the game warden approaches you.

That's Good.

That may impact alot of Portland-area fishermen who may tell ODFW to pack sand and buy a Washington License since many Washington lakes are just as close as where they fish here. The Washington non-resident license is $43.50 and includes Salmon, Steelhead, and Sturgeon tags, Plus you get the handy-dandy parking pass good at 95% of Washington lakes and accesses.

Do they need the money to pay their legal bills after the Snowball fiasco? I wonder. Wrong time for the PR department to gear up for a rate hike.
