the Oregon Dept. of Elmer Fudd has lost a lot of money in the last few years
from guys not buying their salmon tags - solution ? raise prices to make up for it. It is better to spend thousands on those Snowball lawsuits then to worry about our fish runs. |

Check out this website Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Compare what they do for their sport and sportsmen compare to what ODFW does for us.

I really don't mind paying higher fees as long as I'm getting a better return on my investment. I think we need better conservation efforts to make sure our Salmon/Steelheads runs continue to grow and prosper. If ODFW would like to raise our fees I feel that we should have more input on how our "Resource" is managed, especially since technically they work for the people of Oregon. I don't want to see Oregon go down the same road as the peoples republic of California where the environmentalists control the sportfishing seasons. There's really no excuse for killing 100,000 salmonoids, it's a horrible waste of life. On the other hand hatchery fish are genecticly different from the wild runs. I do feel since they are going to start killing sea lions up at Bonneville this should help our runs rebound.

The bulk of the increase is to fund Gov. Ted's research on wind and wave power as alternative energy. Not one dime will go to the the sportsman paying their way.

I think it's sad that soon only the rich will be able to fish. Fishing is a pastime that historically anyone can wander on down to the pond and throw out a bobber and a worm and enjoy the day. It's not fair to price lower income people and families especially out of the sport.
They need to LOWER the one day license They should give families a big break on the fees They give seniors a big break on the fees They should give non-residents less of a SHAFT on the fees They should ask for a 10% increase instead of a 25-30%!!! increase- and explain what it is we get for the $$$$$$. |

I think it's really about the animal rights lobby infiltrating government to exclude Americans from outdoor sports and thereby decreasing the power of the sporting lobby due to lack of participation. |
