Sad Detroit Lake Report

I finally got out on the water for the first time in many weeks. I drove up to Detroit Lake, to my "secret" spot that has always produced something be it an 8" fish to a 16" fish. The air temperature was almost 68 degrees, the water temperature was freezing (I managed to break my thermometer somehow, so I can only give rough terms). When I arrived I found that the lake has risen almost 20'-30' since my last visit in January. The water was clear and green, but literally choked with debris (wood and logs)...I wouldn't want to risk a boat ride out there just yet.

Unfortunately after going through spinners, rappalas, spoons and Powerbait I still came up empty handed. Not sure where the fish are, as they have ALWAYS been available up here in the past. After 5 hours I gave it up, and went home, sunburned but not unhappy about how I spent the day.

Default You made it out

At least you made the effort to find the fish, I can't tell you how many times I have tried to catch fish from my easy chair....not once have I succeeded.

Today I visited the Walling pond and a little trout saved me from posting here.

Default the edge of skunk

Anatoliy- you actually appear a lot smarter than me! I drove 3 hours over and 3 hours back to Lake Billy Chinook on Saturday and was saved by 2 small 10" trout from posting here!

Now why did I do that when there are plenty of places close by to not catch a thing?

On the other hand, except for the wind it was a gorgeous day over there- must've been 80 degrees when I left at 5:00pm.

Howdy! Today is my day to post here.
Went to the E.E.Wilson (2.pm-4pm) didn't catch any fish. Only 1 fish about 8" was caught on the pond while I was there.

I got skunked!!!! Fished Roslyn lake with my uncle last friday. Not a bite, didn't see anyone land a fish. We fished the west end where the water looked to be deepest. Then we went below Marmot dam to try our luck at Steelhead. My first attempt to land the Iron head, I had fun got to use my new rod, and learned a lot about trying for StHds. Then I got skunked again at Mt Hood pond on monday, I took the girlfriends daughter and we struck out. Only saw one little fish caught. We used the standard pwrbait from the bottom. Tried all the colors but the pnd was really murky from all the rain. I even cast a lure across the nose of a large trout I spotted in the murk, he wasn't interested. Oh well such is fishing.

Default WHO started this thread anyway?

not again! Trolled 4 hours at Dorena-not one hit. Hard to believe with the sonar looking this nearly the whole time!

Water clarity not the greatest- better than the lake I fished last week, but still kinda murky.

Default Two lakes in one day!

Well, with a half a day left, I couldn't just quit- so I jogged over to Fall Creek Res. but the ramp was to shallow (north shore)for me to launch without hip boots or a boat driver. So I had to settle for Dexter. It has been stocked twice in the last 2 weeks. Trolled another 4 hours with all kinds of different stuff. NOT ONE SINGLE BITE There were more fish on the sonar here than at Dorena. Water a touch clearer here but for not. I do believe I hear the crystal clear waters of Detroit calling me next week!

Trollin: the waters at Detroit were crystal clear two weeks ago, but watch out for all of the debris that is in the lake.
