Default Should I sell or keep?

l'm really torn on this one. I just jumped on a chance to get a brand new, boxed Abu Garcia 6500 C3 reel.

That leaves me with a spare used one. It's an Abu Garcia 6500TCS special Salmon trophy edition reel. It can be seen here, and scroll down for the Salmon version pic

New Abu Garcia Reels

To make selling it even harder, I just rolled a $25 spool of P-Line Spectrex IV 30lb braid onto it. Plus it's such a cool looking reel, and I understand that they last forever.

If you were me, would you:

1- Sell it, and if so, for how much? (The reel without the line lists for $115)

2- Carefully recondition it, and buy an awesome pole to create a killer Salmon combo. What pole would you match this thing up with? This would leave me with a spare setup for emergencies or taking a buddy fishing.

3- Throw it in the closet for a spare.

Help me decide!

Nice reel- I would keep it for the reasons that you mentioned. Otherwise I would give it to the poor, which is me ()

keep it to build a second rod. There is no one rod that does it all for salmon

I was given a 1985 year abu (when they were swiss made) yesterday that works as well as my new ones.. I have several that got sand in them and are shot though.

I say keep it! There's no such thing as too many reels, and like others have said, it's a good excuse to get another rod.

Oh and even if you ever get sand in it like Osmosis's don't toss them out, given some time and patience they can usually be cleaned up and restored.

I dunno, nothing in my fishing experience has cost over 40 bucks. I still catch some fine fish, just on of my reels looks like crap, feels like crap, and it is not smooth. Anyone know of some good braid that isn't too expensive, yet it is strong (atleast 16 pound test) and it is a small enough diameter to catch trout or panfish, I saw on TV a 50 pound test in a 14 pound diameter. So I'm thinking that there's a 20 pound test or something that is like, 6 pound diameter.

20# braid is similar in diameter as 6# mono. I've been using it for awhile and loving it. Pulled in plenty of trout and, finally, a bass today...

Default Keep it...

Trust me later on down the road....keep it.
Now if it is left hand retrieve...then you should sell it to me

Looks like it's a keeper

It has no evidence of ever having sand in it and works perfectly, so I guess I can expect to ge a lot more use out of it. I'm going to give it a good cleaning and oiling, and find a rod for it.

Toutski and E.J- I'll have an extra Salmon rod soon, so you both are welcome to use it if we ever do some fiishing together

Sweet, thanks for the offer; are you going to attend the Koke derby ?

I'm 99% sure that I'll be there with the family. I just signed a lease on a rental house and am moving to Eugene on the 15th. As long as I can get everything done and there are no delays getting the current tenants out, I should be free that weekend.
