I might go out to Newport to crab with the shad, I still have 7, so I might use 4 or 3 to catch crab with. This is my first time with shad. How many should I put in the bait cage thing? Should I cut the shad in half so the scent will go out? I also want to bring along a rod and see if I can catch some bottomfish or something with 12 pound mono from the crabbin pier. Any fish there worth catching? I also thought of using shad blood for a scent attraction, one of the frozen ones is frozen with a bunch of blood stained on the side, will that effect the crab? Any recommondations on where to on the bay to crab without a boat?
