Default Ifish....

After further review or your post and the other inputs from the members at large maybe you would be more suited with the membership at IFISH (Oregon Fishing Guides and Charters! Fishing the coast-reports tips ifish.net Fishing the North Coast, Astoria, Seaside, Nehalem, Columbia, Tillamook Salmon Steelhead Sturgeon). Best of luck and tight lines where ever you end up.

I was done anyway.
I don't spend my time just on the net unless it is for a political purpose.
When people do not fight for their rights, they lose.
People today just fold and whimp out and are walked on.
Maybe if people spoke up more you would all get the rivers back. Only liberals believe diplomacy works with gov agencies.. They believe it all the way to the guilliotine.
Have fun folks.
But if you want to have a future in fishing to pass to your kids, you do need to begin the hard fight.
Enjoy what little you have left.

I have to agree with Troutski. If you want to rant and rail and insult peoples intelligence and start political on line wars by mentioning liberals and such you need to move on over to ifish.net

This is a family friendly forum. The folks on here just want to fish. We don't care about method or species. We share info. I have personal peevs about wildlife and fisheries policy but work in my own quiet way. Just to let you know the chief bio for ODFW fisheries was on my trap team this past spring. He is far from an environmental extremist!!

cheers and good luck!!

I feel bad for him/her/them... But I wouldn't trust them to manage a fishery.

Default those people

The Oregon Dept. of Elmer Fudd will never see things from the anglers prospective . Collecting a nice state paycheck is the priority. If you want to take back our fishing rights then do not buy tags of any kind next year , that would get some attention , in the mean time they have us by the short hairs and they know it .

Ya know I'm young, dumb, n' ugly, but I suppose I don't feel bad paying for tags to lure and kill the completely unknowing fish and elk in OR, and moose in AK every year. I guess the money could be better used. Actually yes it should be, but to be real honest I have fished this year, mostly for steelhead and bass(which i don't keep) and I am able to eat chinook or steelhead for every meal of every day. I don't because it might get old. Point is look to look beyond your living room/computer screens, and realize you really are are able to fish with bait, flies, whatever on the majority of the best rivers to catch sustanance fish on. Get out there. You just need to be more creative this day in age. Ya know get the hell away from those other anglers. That is what makes it fun for me anyways, finding a dead spot in the river. No company. Yup, we all think we could run the DFW, and I bet some of us could do the best damn job out there. But we won't probably, and we have to create and maintain a competent, working relationship between the Deskies/Labbies, and the Anglers of Oregon. But this I think needs to be done, the communication between "us" and "them." I dunno. I'm just gonna freakin fish because it is more to me than food, although very important. To me fishing is Zen. get beat up in the gym, go fishin, get burnt at school or work, go fishin. See. Good lord I am a jaw flapper aren't I? CCHINOOK - they do have us by the short hairs don't they...Just for now.

I like your flapping....change is tough on everyone especially the older Oregonians, I have lived here for about twenty five years and have seen some real changes in the regs. One thing though...the catch ratio has been increasing each year for the spices I target...I truly believe the ODFW have within there budget and autocratically guided lines have done a great job. I do have a vested interest in there thinking. Being a member of the S.T.E.P. program along with the BullTrout reinstatement campaign over the last ten years, I see first hand how they work and their dedication to out future of our sport, along with our legacy. I pulled a Native #50 lb Tyee Salmon from the Umpqua and two 20 lb Silvers within 5 months...this is fishing at its best...and only 45 min from my front door.
I feel very fortunate to live here and I fish about 2 to three days a week. I must admit I don't like the Salmon,Halibit,Sturgeon and Streelhead being on the same stamp...but thats because I don't fish for them...

Some great insight Troutski. I have just recently looked into a Program/Club or organization that cooperates with the state to reinstate the river systems in our truly unique state. Bull Trout program sounds and looks promising.

This is what I was trying to get at. We are in one of the best fisheries in the world. And geez a 50 pound nook what a trip! We just need to have, and continue a good relationship with the state, private land owners, and eachother. Close to 100 pounds of fish in 5 months! YES, we live in Oregon.
