Well, got my second infraction on Ifish last night - Page 2

Yeah keep it calm, that's the mistake I made on Ifish was going off on people who agreed with the actions of the police.
Basically, I feel that a lot of officers these days go around thinking too many people pose too much of a threat. Considering that my father told the officer the very reason he was speeding, really stressed the fact that he had to have these supplies no matter what, the actions of the officer were completely ridiculous and over bearing for my father obviously posed no violent threat. At that point, the officer was out of his mind when pulled his tazer and threatened to use it, along with a second cop.

However, at this point it seems it is a non issue. My mothers doctor is writing a letter to the police whom he will send first to my fathers lawyer and will include photography of my mothers wound, and an old friend of my father is a man who has been the chief of police of three separate departments including McMinneville, and the town I grew up in, he also will be contacting the CPD. Also, one of the officers on the CPD grew up in this town and was friends with my sister in high school.

When my father contacted his lawyer he was very confident.

All I was saying was that people don't always need both perspectives , sometimes they just need some support. I ain't mad and I definatly wasn't trying to turn this into a Ifish thread!

In my mind 11 mph over the speed limit doesn't justify being tasered. Unfortunately in todays society the police are on edge, overbooked and understaffed. Ultimately it comes down to an officers judgement when it comes down to the use of force. The officer should have been able to tell if your father was a threat and if using a taser was justified. From what I've heard here it seems like your father was distraught and didn't really pose a threat to the officers. Good luck to you and your family.

I will man. My grandfather died of cancer that started out as melanoma and spread all over so it's been pretty hard on my dad.
He always says he wishes his father could have met me because I'm supposedly just the spitting image of my grandfathers brother. I guess I even act like him, and my father said the only time he ever saw his dad cry was when he met up with his brother after not seeing him for many, many years.
I guess my granddad was quite the bad ass. In high school, he played wide receiver for Philomath high when they won the state championship, and double teamed the entire game he still scored three times. He was being recruited my three universities with full scholarships to play ball then WWII broke out and he signed up for the Navy instead. Was a champion boxer during the war and ended up having a ship sunk out from under him, was in the water for 10 hours or so, got picked up by another one and THAT one got sunk a few ours later then luckily got picked up again. My father told me that my grandmother always slept on the side closest to the door so she could grab him when he had the nightmare of getting off the ship and jumped out of bed in his sleep and tried to run down the hallway and out the door... My father said you would hear this huge BAM of his feet hitting the floor and there he'd go down the hallway... I too wish I could have met him. I was two years too late.

And guess what he did on his spare time? Well of course, he fished!!

According to my dad he was a big fan of spinners and spoons

No problem. My dad told me some other things about the Philomath football team that are pretty hilarious. Keep in mind this was the early times when they wore leather helmets, hardly any pads and rules were... well there weren't many..

They had one player that chewed tobacco during games and if they needed to distract a threatening player on the opposing team they had a great strategy:
This player would work up a big ol' gob of tobacco spit and they would line the two up. Right before the ball was snapped he would spit it all over the other players hand. Obviously he would be looking down at his hand thinking what the hell, and pretty much get drilled when the ball was snapped

Another player they had was a small guy, so they sewed a couple loops to each side of his pants and when they were really close to the goal line they would group up tight, make a big pile, give him the ball and two free players would grab the loops and just throw him over into the goal zone ahaha

State Champions baby!!!! Funny stuff..

that was an odd point to the story. I was curious as to the reasoning.
and if they were so worried about your father being a threat why did they allow him to go and tell him the next streeet if we such a threat that was going to need to be tasered I think alot of people at ifish missed some key points in your story ifish is a horibble sight I never have liked it and have never been a member or ever will be

Hey guys I left ifish for this site because this forum looked pretty casual and civil and didn't seem elitist. I don't post here a lot but I always look and appreciate the civility.

Too me ifish is a forum of elitists and censorship and the hunting forum is a joke.

I'm so sorry to read this post. I don't blame you for your anger. I grew up in Corvallis and the police there have always been very overbearing. I had a few scrapes with them in my younger years. They are one of the reasons I moved to Albany. The cops there are a bunch of bullies! They run around in bullet proof vests and think there all swat team members. Most shave there heads and look like white surpremisists. I am uneasy everytime I drive in that town, and I wouldn't live there if I was paid to. I hope everything works out for your Dad, and your Mom will be in my prayers. If I was you I'd contact the Newspapers about this! I wish you and your family my best!
