Being that I was chef and I still love to eat, I thought about starting an off topic thread about best places to eat. I just moved to Eugene for school, and I am slowly trying to find some good eats. I am looking to hear about your local joints that provide great food and great service at a reasonable price. This would help those who want to take a getaway (with gas prices as they are, road trips is about all I can afford) and those who are new/visiting our beautiful state. It doesn't even have to be in your hometown. You know...that place you HAVE to dine at whenever you find yourself in (Fill in your favorite destination).

I don't dine out much but when I do I can be a bit finicky, here is my choice for causal dining in and around my area.
1. Kona Cafe.....BBQ Chicken/Ribs Main street in Springfield 2. Daniels Mexican Food Franklin blvd. in Eugene 3. Lee's Chinese Food Main street in Springfield Over the years these places have proven themselves with quality and consistency. Good eats to you.. Chuck

If it is still open, I would recommend the Excelsior Cafe on the U of O campus to anyone looking for a great dining experience. Buster's BBQ is another site that shouldn't be missed.

Oh yeah Buster's is a good spot. Two-meat Po-Boy and a basket fries.

I like Senor Taco in West Linn for some cheap but rad burrito action. As for casual dining my lady and I like to go to Chili's for happy hour
. I also love Du's Terriaki in Gladstone on McLaughlin. The BEST!!! The Montague Cajun Bistro under the Morrison bridge in SE Portland is AWESOME. For fish and Chips The Jolly Rodger or the Horse Brass both in SE PDX. |

My favorites in Albany are Novak's Hungarian, and Los Dos Amigos. Novak's is very well know for the best Hungarian food in the west.

If you're looking for food in Eugene, I've got loads suggestions. For burgers or sandwiches and beer, you can't go wrong with Cornucopia at 17th and Lincoln. For pizza slices try Sy's or Bene. If you want to upscale try Ambrosia or Cafe Zenon downtown. I have yet to find a Chinese restaurant I really like here, in Portland I always go to the Republic Cafe at 4th and Davis. The list could go on, I deliver beer to restaurants and bars around town.

Here in Hillsboro, one good spot is Cornelius Pass Road House. I am also a fan of Stanford's for happy hour, or Chili's. Thai Orchid or Thai Princess is another good one for some spicy food.
