Question Self service Gas

Does any one else dislike the fact that we can't pump our own gas...? Not that I think it would drive the price of fuel down or throw Oregon into a economic depression due to the loss of jobs, but I must admit I a getting weary of the attitude of the pump attendants. Not to mention the way they treat my car or my boat, I have spent some time in California and Washington where you can either pump or be pumped your choice, and it doesn't take a four year degree to manage the instructions printed on the screen. Just wondering how many people care one way or another. I thought maybe a poll on the issue could be informational, any way here goes. Lets see -----

I used to pump gas in High School. So I say keep the attendants but let us pump our own gas. If you want to pump your own gas get a maytag Oil card. You can fill up at Pac prides all over the NW.

I hear ya about the attitude. I would like the choice. It doesn't take too many brain cells to pump it and if you do I think your'e less likely to overspill.

I hate having to wait for an attendant to move his #@! and pump my gas! When I was younger I worked in a Chevron station and 2 of us handled 8 pumps and we worked hard to get the customers out as quickly as possible. We even washed there windshields and checked there tire pressures, oil, etc. These people now just lolly gag around and take there time. I'm all for self service, if it makes the price drop.

I hate having people pump my gas, especially since I sold my Honda and starting driving my old VW bus. I can't even count how many times I've told people to NOT top it off to an even number after it stops pumping. My gas tank is not vented, so when they top it off the inside of the bus smells like gas for a week. Worst of all, in the summer time the gas will boil over and dump all over the side of the bus and the tire if it is overfilled!

Default I can.........and do

Pump my own diesel. However, I always first ask if it's OK with the attendant or owner.

Try to imagine the amount of gas stations in Oregon, now times whatever number you have in your mind by 4, 5, or even 6. That's the number of people who would lose what may be thier only means of income. So what you might save in your gas price you will still be paying in the way of taxes and what not for those soles who are now unemployed. Oregon doesnt need more unemployment. I will now step down from my soapbox.

That's whats so great about America, we can all have an opinion. Not that I am trying to take someones job away, just give me an opportunity to have a choice. Most people would rather pump their own, my opinion is to have a choice.
