    Crane & Wickiup

The docks havent been put back in so plan accordingly. The roads into the upper ramps at Crane still have about 12" of hardpack snow.

So I want to buy a boat but know nothing about boats

your battery and your gas tank are back there. First and foremost, they need to be protected. Secondly - "Things" that are on the deck have a tendancy to slide backwards when the boat is moving. If nothing else, those "things" will never be seen or heard from again if they fall back into that area.

So I want to buy a boat but know nothing about boats

That would be a good "starter boat" for fishing in most of Oregon. Aluminum bounces of rocks and trees well and they beach fine when there isn't a dock at the ramp. You should be able to get most of your money back when - not if - your next boat comes along. Buying it now will give you the Winter...

    Another idea for "smokers"

Growing up, my Dad had an electric frying pan - about 12" square and 2" deep. His fried fish and fried chicken were always great and consistantly cooked. Electric fryers are great and readily available.

Can we talk about the highway speed limit a bit?

If someone is tailgating you and you speed up, they will still be tailgating you. OSP radar guns dont care your excuse when YOU get the speeding ticket. ;)

Oregon coast kelp forests threatened with near extinction

divers killing one sea urchin at a time is going to require a LOT of divers. with over 300,000,000 purple sea urchins running rampant over the reefs with little to no natural predation, is anyone working with the commercial urchin fishery and ODFW to try to get the daily limit of TEN raised to a...

    COVID-19

Government numbers are always not "mathematically friendly". Government "official numbers" are collected in a similar manner - "statistically unfriendly". But forget the numbers as you dont want to be remembered as "a number". Wear a mask when at the store, stand UP-wind while in a...

Short and long term effects of fires on fishing

Water doesn't burn. The fish will be fine until the run off from the rains clog the streams & rivers with ash & mud.
