    Metolius or Deschutes?

Thanks to a screaming one year old overnight Sunday, I only made it out one day. I made it to Cline Falls state park about sunrise and was the only car there. It was slightly overcast and about 40 degrees. Began my hike upstream and began scouting for good holes along the way. There are...

    Metolius or Deschutes?

Thanks for the input, I got over here today and I think I'm gonna fish both. Tomorrow middle D above Cline Falls and then Monday morning, the Metolius. I went to Fin&Fire in Redmond and got some flies and beer. May seem weird that a flyshop would do growler fills but hey, 2 birds... Guy there...

    Metolius or Deschutes?

I will be staying at my folks place in Tumalo this weekend and plan to do some fly fishing I've got a couple ideas, but would like some input. Should I fish the Metolius or Deschutes? I'm thinking either near Cline Falls state park or further up, west of Terrebonne on the Deschutes. I'm about...

    Steelhead fishing near Eugene

Practice, it takes a lot if effort to get into steelhead. They don't call it a thousand cast fish for nothing. You will want to practice reading the water to know where they might hold. Pools below rapids. Rocks or boulders that create a hole or eddy in the current. Flats or tail outs above...

    Ugly nate

Made it up to Barton about 8:30 with a couple friends. Weather was great. Water is still high and fast, but clearing out. Not nearly as brown as I had expected. We all hooked into a few outgoing smolt, and I got the only steel out of the group. Beat up, spawned out native buck. Chased my brass...

    Eagle Cap Wilderness

I think it is a safe bet that snow below 4500' will have cleared out. We've had snow at higher elevations come in all of a sudden, even in late summer. Don't forget bug spray, they are worst early in the summer.

    Eagle Cap Wilderness

As far as I know there are black bear, but I think they are still pretty wary of people as the area is so remote. I don't remember ever hanging our food but it couldn't be a bad idea.

    Eagle Cap Wilderness

Be prepared for cold weather even in late June. My family has a tradition of camping at Catherine Creek campground then hiking in to Tombstone lake, a pretty intense 10 mile hike in. It's been quite a few years since I've been out there. We used to see spawning salmon in Catherine Creek in...

    Junction City Pond Fishing

If the fish are active, I have had good luck with rooster tails and blue fox spinners. If its slow I usually throw an unweighted bundle of worms with craw/anise scent. Depends if the bite is on. I've had more than a couple fishless days there. I can't bring myself to use power bait.

    Oregon steelhead fishing (2010 - 2021)

Not a bad morning on the slaw, got up there about 7. No action until about 11am. Nice hatchery hen on a brass color steel-lee not too far downstream from Whitaker creek. Water seems fairly low, 2.5-3' vis. No ink on my first tag last year so good to get this year off to a good start.

Has anyone here ever tried this?

Somebody's tried it! Somebody's tried it! Youtube has lots of videos of kayak fishing, I think this one looks like what you plan to do. YouTube - kayak fishing with Spike Good Luck!

    Any Bass in the Willamette

Easy float Easy float Summer is great for an easy float on the willy. I have yet target the smallies. Coming from Eugene, I like to put in at Marshall Island (off river rd. just south of Junction City) and out at Harrisburg. This is a 2-3 hour float and very easy in a kayak or inflatable...

    Delta Ponds

winter bass winter bass I would love to hear how any attempts go this time of year. The bass may be hard to find and likely very inactive. Chances are very good that the movement you're seeing is from carp, they always seem active.
