Well we ended up not taking the boat and just fished off the bank near the mouth. We didn't catch anything (this time) and didn't see anyone else have any luck.
We did drive up the river and stopped at an rv/boat place. Saw a few guys coming back with some big salmon! Looks like we will be...
My husband and I are heading to Lincoln City this weekend for our anniversary and thought, "why not try the Siletz while we are there?"
We have never fished the Siletz before so we have no idea how or where to go. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Stumpy thanks for apologizing to the group. It's just too bad the the person who started the name calling couldn't do the same, oh well. And thanks to everyone else, I learned a lot about water temp and will take it into consideration the next time I go out fishing. Maybe I will try carp or bass...
I didn't join this group to be called names. I think there are other ways you can get you point across without being a jerk. Maybe try and educate instead of name calling.

Nice fish Chad! We just got our first springer of the season with the same method you used to get yours. It was my mom's first springer in years.

Well we went out yesterday and tried our luck in a boat near the sandy. Marked lots of fish...not sure what they all were but we had no luck. We did however see about 15 seals and a few has salmon so there are some there. Ya just have to get em before the seals do.
I was thinking the same thing. My dad wants to head out Thursday and take the boat out. But I don't really want to take the day off if nothing is happening.

If you don't mind me asking, what river are you on? Im dying to fish for steelhead on the clackamas but my dad keeps telling me its too early. And since I have yet to catch a steelhead EVER I tend to listen to him
So we finally took our boat out this weekend after getting the motor fixed, and headed out to the mouth of the sandy in the Columbia river. We were marking fish left and right but nothing was biting. We tried everything, and still nothing. Then a monster of a Sturgeon rolled and I began to setup...
Well I went out fishing today. Started fishing for salmon but saw a few sturgeon roll so decided to change things up. And what do ya know, caught my first sturgeon! Can't wait to catch more!

I was worried about all this rain. Maybe we will wait or possibly take the boat out and try the columbia? I am worried about all the debris that will probably be floating around though.
