Got a late start on Sunday and on top of that the roads coming from the valley were icy so took it slow. Only caught the high slack but managed 2 small Silver Perch that I let go and one OK sized Red fin that came home with me. The Surf Perch Skunk is gone!
Now I just need to do it more often...
I found fishing rock and the small parking area on Google maps. I'll try Fogarty first and if I strike out there I'll try the FR area. Thanks for the information!
looks like I'm headed to the cost on Sunday morning. Thinking of hitting Fogarty beach for perch or should I focus my efforts elsewhere? Tried a few times but have yet to catch a perch so any tips on locations to try would be appreciated.
The steep shoreline at Fogarty looks good but maybe it's...
I'm planning to hit the Nye beach area on Friday (1/1/16) around noon to fish the incoming tide. If anyone happens to be around feel free to stop by and say hi. I'll be there with my wife and son. This will be the second attempt at figuring out this fishery. My first go at it left me empty handed.
Lots of drive by's this morning but we managed to get a few kokes in the boat. Found willing biters on the highway side of the lake down toward the dam. 40-50ft seemed to work. Fish seemed to like an orange spinner hoochie and also an pink and white assassin spinner. Fish seemed to want a faster...
I have not picked one up personally and they most likely run pretty deep. Keep in mind this is my fisrt year of owning a boat so I don't have years of fishing the lake to rely on.
I have only picked up a handful of kokes this year but they have come from Kinney Creek or the area out in front of Kinney Creek. The south side of the Island is also a good place to fish for them so am I told.
Tomkat - are you using a Downrigger or long lining with weight? The kokes I picked...
Found tumble creek. Fished with the kids for about 3 1/2 hours before they were ready to go. Orange power bait on the bottom produced some fish but not as many as worms and a bobber with a long leader. Mostly stockers 8 - 10 inches.
Lost a really nice carry over about 10 feet from the shore...
