    Best fishing near St. Helens

Look up Salmonberry Reservoir. It gets stocked with trout and also has Smallmouth Bass in it. Trojan ponds is another option for trout. As for Salmon and Steelhead, your gonna have to travel, unless you can get out on the Columbia. Places like Gnat Creek, Big Creek, Clackamas and Sandy rivers...

Found another in the Big C.

    It's the CE-C-1062Ha 10'6" Heavy action. Rated 20-60 lbs.

Found another in the Big C.

Thanks everyone. I just picked that rod up about a month ago. I was looking for something lighter than the Ugly Stik I was using, which was like fishing with a broomstick. Wanted something that had some bend to it. The guy at Sportsmans warehouse suggested it. Said it would handle casting 6...

Found another in the Big C.

Still slow fishing. Only saw 3 Steelhead and one other Springer (wild) landed today, for 20+ rods. Seems not to be a go to color as of yet. This one hit a green and black w/mylar wing, spin n' glo, baited with a coon shrimp. Biggest one for me so far this year. Weighed in at 18#.

    Summer steelhead

As far as the White Chinook goes, I smoked it, so probably not the best way to compare to a regular Nook. The meat definitely had a different texture. The article jamisonace posted, described the flesh as buttery, which I would say this had. Also the taste just seemed a little off. Milder maybe...

    Summer steelhead

I honestly don't know how to tell the difference as far as bucks, but it was a dime bright fish. Saw 3 Chinooks hooked today. Only one landed. Sealion got the other two. Yes they are starting to show, but not in any great numbers yet. But soon. Pic is from yesterday.

    Summer steelhead

Go get'em Carp. I got my first combo limit of the year today, on the Big C. Hooking a Nook is like winning the lottery right now, but there are a few out there. Not to hijack the thread, but a week ago I caught a buck Chinook and it cut really pale. Have been told it was a Willamette fish. You...

    My setup for plunking @Meldrum.

The beach I plunk gets really crowded. When the fishing is hot, you will have like 10 feet between rods. We just use common courtesy out there. If the guy next to us hooks up, we immediately reel in our gear, to get it out of the way. Even will help the guy land the fish or help distract the...

    McIver Park (Clackamas River)

Oh come on ChezJfrey, winters are so last week. The big boys are in town, and I'm gonna intercept as many as I can, before they get up to you guys. :D

    Homemade clay beads

Gannon, I'm always stoked when I get them to shore. Hate this barbless rule. Basically just hold my breath until they hit the bank. Especially Steelhead. Nooks you generally just play tug o' war with. Steelys are escape artist!

    Native fish!

    Nice fish! Beads kill!
