Im pretty sure I hooked more fish when i was a smoker. I was also younger and fished a lot more. I really dont think it matters too much. Just rember to pack out your butts and if the guys next to you dont smoke be polite and dont smoke them out it really does stink.

I think you are incorrect, page 8 of the regulations states that when fishing for salmon or steelhead all weights must be attached above uppermost hook. If useing hooks over5/8" or multiple piont hooks Weights must be 18" above the uppermost hook. When in doubt read the rules.

Size 4 hooks are pretty small for the salmon around here. I use 1/0 for coho, and bigger for chinook. I doubt you want to loose a fish you have worked so hard for because of the wrong hook.

I have seen more people use egg weights in recent years, It kinda makes sense, the line goes through it so less resistance, you can feel the bite better, Maybe? Ill stick to pencil lead. As for corkies for coho small and orange, and for chinook a little bigger and metalic blue, or white.

The earlyest I have got a fish out of there was Sept.3. I like spinners in the fast water below the meathole. Also eggs in the slots of the fast water. A couple of years ago I saw a guy with a spey rod killing coho with a two fly setup. There should be some in there real soon. good luck
