The main difference between the sling blade and other types of dodgers is they can be trolled at higher speeds before rolling.

I talked to the forest service a few weeks ago. They said there's still snow down to the 10 mile gate and the lake it still froze over. We've had some snow since then, so I'd be real surprised if it would be accessible for opening weekend.

Ochoco...Fri 5/15 Ochoco...Fri 5/15 Slow day. Got 4 fat rainbow's between 14-17". Water still murky, but not as bad as last week. All caught on spinners with dodgers useing downriggers. Middle of lake most productive. Dodger's smeared with pro-cure carp spit scent.

Yep, it's murky...a lot of runoff filling up the reservoir right now. I only fish it early season, so I couldn't tell ya if it ever clears up. Going back in a couple days. Standby for updated report...

I do! I use powder paint and vinyl lure and jig paint. I then add holographic, holoform, glow, and uv tapes. Some have glitter added. Most are poured from a lead casting, and other shapes are made from crescent weights. The jigs I make are to target kokanee and are minnow shaped in 1/4 oz...

I've also heard that the crappie were good size at Ochoco. I mainly troll with downriggers, and am just waiting for the high lakes to thaw for chasing kokanee.

Tubes are very popular for kokanee! The Radical Glow Tubes are one of the best. Like hoochies, use a heavy leader to transmit more action from the dodger. A leader length of 8-10" works the best.

a lot of kokanee fishermen use the black box. I installed it on the boat a couple years back, and it does work (useing a short set-back when trolling.) I've been skeptical on trying it while jigging though...don't need a koke wrapped up around the wire!

The Pro Troll web site mentions useing the black box while jiiging and still fishing to attract fish under the boat. Has anyone tried this?
