Well im not seeing and not hearing of any reports of fish being caught in the sandy, my cousin caught a 15 lb native over a week ago . I dont understand there has been no hatchery fish being caught like last year i had over 20 fish taged by this time? the river has been blown out over 5 times...
i am going to hit it tomarrow! start out at marmont and maybe move to cedar creek if anyone wants to meet up i will be at sandy donut shop at 630 am. got a call from jr guide service they had 7 fish on and landed 5 from oxbow down somewhere?

just a little fyi guys , when your at the river even to bend down to wash your hands..make sure of your footing ... a gentleman fell in the santiam river yesturday and they presume him drowned...thats really sad my heart goes out to his family! we all love the river so just be carefull guys...
i will miss him as well... he was very good to me at the tackle store and allways reliable for a good fishing report! he will be well missed for sure...

from my experience! these steelhead dont waste any time getting where they want to go! and in this high water they fly like rockets right up the side of the river beacause they are lazy and take the fastest route and i agree they will stop and hang out at fresh water creeks and flush there...
should be good, but have not heard of a lot of fishin the system yet. its been so up and down with the river blown out at least 3 times already this year! fyi i caught 2 last week at cedar when water reseeded.
