    Skunked on the Sandy

Bubs thanks for the advice! I don't have a boat and I refuse to fish shoulder to shoulder but I will try hopping from hole to hole next time I hear they are running. And my friend from Indy loved the rivers here, they don't have anything like them in the midwest.

    Skunked on the Sandy

Had a buddy in town who wanted to get into a salmon or steelhead so we headed out to the Sandy River. Spent most of the afternoon fishing the long drift by the Oxbow boat launch and the hole at Dodge Park right below the bridge. Tossed different colors of blue foxes and drifted a bobber/jig...

    Mayer State Park bass fishing

Went bass fishing at Mayer State Park today. Arrived around 9:30 and caught 4 smallmouth bass in the 10 to 14 inch range. Fished the small cove to the right of the boat ramp. I was using Berkley Gulp plastic grubs with the 3" pumpkinseed being the most productive. Saw a few being caught along...

    Gilbert River fishing report

    Gilbert River fishing report

This was next to the parking lot with the fishing dock right next to sturgeon lake. I went back yesterday and it was all small cats. I think they sturgeon were spawning the previous time.

    Gilbert River fishing report

Went to Gilbert River today looking for catfish. Ended up catching 10 sturgeon instead. The largest was about 4 feet. Saw 3 small cats caught. The guys out in the kayaks and boats were slaying the sturgeon. Used chicken liver tipped with worm off the bottom. Did a little jigging later around the...

    Fogarty Creek Beach perch fishing

I'm a novice when it comes to sea perch so I dont know the trick to finding the bigger ones. I read that they run bigger in the summer.

    Fogarty Creek Beach perch fishing

After wrenching my knee poke poling the Newport jetty yesterday had to change my plan and tried perch fishing. Went to Fogarty Creek State park about an hour before high tide. I used shrimp and Gulp! Camo sandworms. Caught 4 in an hour but they were on the small side so I released them. Gonna...
