    First winter on the swing...ever...

All tell you my little secret. IMO All water is good swing water if you adjust your setup correctly. If you believe its a fishy looking spot, well then give it a shot!

    Coastal winter SH ideas

I understand the fundamentals of Winter Steelheading and Coastal Winter Steelheading. Can't catch them if they aren't there!. I have done a few years of Coastal Winter Steelheading in CA and there are two systems I really like. Another reason my dad (and myself) like systems without Hatcheries...

    First winter on the swing...ever...

I swung up a lot of dry line Deschutes steelhead. Chased them many winter days with sink tips before I started getting grabs. Congrats!

Thanks, I tried to read the regs, but I get really confused in their terminology sometimes.

    Coastal winter SH ideas

Yes the one south of Yachats was the one I was looking into. Does anyone know what the regs are for fishing a managed wild fish system like this? I gather C & R, figure barbless. But does anyone know if you need a special permit ( similar to the Colombia basin card)?

    Coastal winter SH ideas

Thanks All, I have plenty of research to start doing! And a impromptu trip or two to make :thumb:. Another one I was looking into was Ten Mile, anyone have any experience there?

    Mind blowing vid!!

All of the Todd Moen films are amazing. Doesn't matter what species the anglers are chasing, the cinematography is just phenomenal!

    Coastal winter SH ideas

Hey All, I was looking for some suggestions for some coastal rivers to fish. I moved to Bend a while back, and I focus mainly on the D and occasionally the Sandy. Both my dad and I fly fish, but he is big on C & R and loves coastal rivers that don't have Hatcheries or Hatchery planted. He...

    Deschutes steel late November?

Thanks, I'll have to look into thay. I see a lot of guide boats on google parked along that stretch, but its hard to tell when the picture was taken, so I dont know if it was trout or SH season. I like the idea of fishing that area cause it will cut a good amount of time off the drive, but at...

    Deschutes steel late November?

Thanks for the response. I floated the area from about 6 miles above Macs to the campground before the canyon. Unfortunately I know the water better from the west side of the river. But in the past few days as the trip has been coming into view I have pretty much been living on google maps.

    Deschutes steel late November?

Hi All, I'm new to the board and as of this year new to the swing. I fished the Deschutes in late August as a intro to swinging flies and managed to stick a fish. Since then I've gotten my own setup and dialed in my casting. Weather and generall conditions permitting it looks like I'm gonna get...
