Anyone want to fish the Sandy in Gresham next week?

Upsate88- it took me close to 10 years before I had one on and then lost it due to faulty gear..take heed and keep your gear up to prod, no need to duplicate my error.

A couple of questions for fishing in St Louis Ponds

in the winter you don't drive in and the walk in is not that bad. Best I have done is the back side of pond #6 with snall silver spinners.

Betty Kay charter out of Charleston

I agree with the Masta..End of August , first week of September has been my best trips. P.S. $300- seems like the norm every time I went out of Astoria.(for Albacore Tuna)..This was with West Coast Adventure.

    The banks

I fished the Dalles area hard with tube jigs below the dam..area looks horrible, but there are a lot of nice smallies there. Below the first bridge downstream of the dam works well too. Try same are for C & R of big sturgon. Now tru end of August works well.

    St. Louis catfish help

on the Clack where it dumps into the Williamette you can catch lots of suckers. Bait those into cut bait and use that as your catfish mainstay bait. It works and stays on the hook. Pieces about the size of your little finger are just about right.

    Single hook or treble?

Agreed! I fished Washington with thier barbless/single hook rule and as soon as I switched to siwash hooks debarbed I very rarely lost a fish, to the tone of 30 silvers on the Nemah. Also made releasing those green and purple monsters (chum) a breeze after having a blast battling them!

A place to buy crawfish traps in or near PDX

Make your own!!! Use 1/2" square chickenwire. 1)make a tube about 8-10" in dia. by 2-3 foot long. 2)cut a 3" X 3" door mid tube and wire on a 4 X 4" door to it. 3) make a pair of wire cones with a 3" end hole for the bugs to enter and to fit the tube. 4) wire the cones in. You will have...

    Heading out Saturday

Pond 3 and 6 are the two with brooders stocked. Pond 3 is pretty small and shallow so realize that. This time of year you have to park out near the entrance, but it isn't that far to walk to any of the ponds.

    Some tackle questions...

The guide I had on the Keni used single swishaw (middle hook, not tail) and it worked just fine. Landed my 32# king just peachy. This was on wiggle warts and magnum warts..no problem with the action there.

    Some tackle questions...

swishaw hooks are the best, make them barbless if you are worried about the fish. I have had no problems with lost fish using #4 and 5 mepps w/ swishaw hooks. Easist replacement as well.
