Hey, sorry I didn't post up yet, been super busy with work. I fished the river from about 8:30-2 and caught some nice trout! Early in the day there was a bit of a hatch going on and I was able to sight fish and catch several rising trout on size 16 parachute dun colored drys. The surface action...

I have been very successful fishing subsurface up there, just not when this evening hatch happens. I've been tying some midge emergers, I'll give those a shot next time.

Funny that you posted this, because I will be fishing the Ana river bellow the reservoir this Friday and then camping with friends for the weekend. Anyone got any tips or info on fly fishing the river?

Harriet Lake mystery hatch That is kinda the direction I was thinking. How do you rig your fly/leader/indicator to fish nymphs like that?

My presentation isn't always the best, but it's not horrible. I've caught plenty of Stillwater trout on dries. Not sure what the temp was, but that lake stays pretty consistently cold (right around 48 most of last summer from what I remember)

Hey, I haven't posted on here in close to a year but thought maybe someone could help me answer this question. I have run into this same situation at Harriet lake a few times in the evening where a hatch starts and fish begin rising everywhere. Lots of small (maybe number 18) mayflies everywhere...

Thanks for all the info! The main reason I was thinking about switching to braid was to be able to visually track the swing or drift of my hardware better, with the extra strength and smaller diameter as a bonus. Maybe a should think about a high vis mono instead?

Definitely would use a mono or fluorocarbon leader, and I run swivels on all my hardware already. Do any of you hardware fishers have a preference to braid vs. mono?
