I wasn't aware of the fall creek run, I guess I should go for a drive up fall creek to see if I can find some spawning grounds, those are always fun to hike in and check out.
In that particular area the regs state that any steelhead over 24" can be kept whether clipped or not. There is another...
Hi all,
I had a co-worker tell me that his sons pulled out 2 steelhead this weekend on the lower portion of the river. It was my understanding that there isn't a winter run through there so my question is: Would those have been hold over summers? How do you think the quality of the fish would...
I agree, and likely if this wasn't my first winter fish, I wouldn't have even bothered with a picture. After telling a few people about it I am in disbelief with how many of them said who cares about the fin, I would have grilled it anyways. At least I know to release all wild fish.
Yeah that was a great start to my first season. If I had someone with me I could have gotten a better pic but I didn't want it out of the water any longer than it already was for my quick picture, she doubled up and was back in the water before I knew what happened
As this is my first season for winters, I have been using spoons because that is what I know from my trout fishing. I do want to learn bobber and drift fishing also.
Awesome looking week to come!
The weird thing is I thought that for a moment I just snagged up. It was 2 ft off the bank at the very end of my swing. It just held its place like a chinook would, I never saw it until it was to the bank. It did take line a few times but never rose out of the...
You sir, are the reason I rarely post on here. Held it in the water the whole time except for a 5 sec photo. I don't think that fish will have a problem as it swam away strong as heck.
I also thought this was a steelhead, why do you say coho?
Yes, I am in Springfield. Saturday morning I will be going up below Leaburg to give it another shot. With how crazy work has been I have only been able to get out in the afternoon/evening. I'll be up there about 5-5:30 Saturday morning. So I guess if I do catch something I am doing pretty good...
Looking to go fishing with someone familiar with the Eugene/Springfield area. I have never hooked a steelhead and would love to give it a go. I have been putting a ton of hours in with no luck. Including scouting up and down the rivers for hours and trying new spots. Starting to get frustrated...
