Lakes Henry Hagg Lake Fishing Reports

@troutdude Fish are aged by reading the wide lines on the scales, taken from certain spots on the fish. On scaleless fish, such as catfish, or fish with very small scales, such as trout, presents a different problem. Bony structures such as spines, vertebrae, or otoliths (ear bones) must be...

Also, counting the rings of scaleless fish, such as a catfish, or fish with very small scales, such as trout, presents a different problem. Bony structures such as spines, vertebrae or otoliths (ear bones) must be used. These are cut into thin sections so the annuli can be read. In some cases...

Lakes Henry Hagg Lake Fishing Reports

Those bands have nothing to do with how old the fish is, sorry but true. The growth rings, the wide ones only, are counted on the scales. Only certain scales are used as well.

    Bad tasting fish

Those are the stocked trout. They're raised in ponds and fed pellet food. Terrible, not worth keeping, just take care to remove the hook and throw them back. Native trout do not have white meat. The stoked trout, if they don't die, will eventually get bigger, eating the good food that trout eat.

    Trolling speed

You go whatever speed make your gear work. If your using a flasher with herring or something else then put your stuff in the water and watch how the flasher works. Same with a Kwikfish or anything your using. It's not about how fast the boat goes, it's about what the gear does in the water. I...

    Long casting rod

I have two rods that are very far casters. They are both 10'6" rods, One a Lamiglas X11 and the other a Berkely Buzz Ramsey series. One is for a spinning reel the other for a baitcaster reel. The baitcaster gets much farther than the spinning reel, probably twice as far.

    Long casting rod

I use a 10'6" Lamiglas X11 rod. I have another 10'6 rod but it's a Buzz Ramsey series by Berkely. Both are great rods, not too expensive and you can really get your gear out there with them. It depends on the reel and the weight. A spinning reel will not cast nearly as far as a bait caster also...

Seined fof salmon a season and trolled for salmon...

Like to catch my first king and sliver on a rod

Hey guys.. and gals. I've spent a good 10yrs. commercial fishing up in Alaska, and about the same in Oregon, but have not caught a king or silver on a rod. Well I actually just started sports fishing recently. I've been trying at the mouth of the clack and Willamette at Medrum bar area, up...
