    High lakes thread..

Great idea! The map is great. I will send you some info on the lakes that I am familiar with when I get a chance.

    Hunting dog

I don't hunt so I can't speak for that, but I do have a Chessie and can tell you that I have never seen a more capable swimmer in my life. I never trained her to be a retriever but in the water it is very instinctive for her. Anything I throw in that she can get to(this includes following a...

    Powder coat advice

I have never tried it with lead, but assume that the melting point for lead is much higher than powder paint(which is the low 300s).

    Powder coat advice

A few places sell a powder coat airbrush that looks good, and for jigs I would think a powder paint fluid bed would be pretty awesome.

    Are you happy with 10"

I prefer to disappear up in a high mountain lake or stream that is either hard to get to or just not well known. I never fish bait of any kind in these places to minimize any accidental kills because for me its more about the experience then it is about catching a fish. I don't like to eat them...

    Briliant Stupid Idea!

I like your thinking, but would be really tough to do with out a controlled environment of some kind. Maybe just two spinners at a time, and you could keep switching out the non-TCO spinner?

    Boot recommendations?

I'm goin studded felt from here on out I think. I tried a pair of the Cloudveil with the Vibram 8x sticky rubber, and they were no match for the slick river conditions over east. The studded rubber might work just as well, but I can tell you for sure it was a night and day difference between my...

    2lb test reviews?

Thanks for the info on the fly snaps! I will have to get some and give it a try next time out. After doing a little reading the 2# Seaguar fluoro looks pretty good, I might have to get some for the next time I hit some high lakes.

    2lb test reviews?

I have been using the Fireline crystal its a "translucent" white for my last few trips and have liked it so far. I am actually using the 10lb for river trout fishing with spinners as it allows me to not lose as much gear, and I really don't think the trout have cared. I have always used Maxima...

    North Santiam trout

I fished Bruno Mtn Road on a trip back from central OR a little less than a month ago, and caught fish on nearly every cast. It was an over cast day but I used a home made #2 sized green body / nickle blade. Good Luck!

Middle Santiam Wilderness - trout shadows & virgin territory

Awesome pics and video, thanks for sharing! I am going to have to get down there before things get too wet. Hellacious hikes and ankle breaking walks in the river usually lead to the peace and quiet that makes this stuff so fun!

To swivel or not to swivel

For me it depends, I will go with the snap swivel method(black #12) when walking a river several miles and fishing for trout because of all the different types of water that I come across. I want to be able to quickly and easily change spinners and feel that benefit out weighs the possible short...

Middle Santiam Wilderness - trout shadows & virgin territory

That's my kind of fishing. Thanks for the info, I have often wondered what a trip up there would be like.
