    Prehistoric Bull Mahi!

There are a couple of trips I really want to do on the upper Pacific US coast, I really want to go after halibut and Salmon. I've never seen either in real life, just on fishing shows, one day I'm going to make it up there. But it would have to be in the summer as after being here so long, i...

    Prehistoric Bull Mahi!

One of the biggest Mahi I've seen out here, check out the size on this thing! Fishing has been pretty good lately, best day this week was 11 dorado and a nice marlin, slowest day was 3 sails and a pair of dorado. Fishing is really start to pick up down here! Sorry for the bad colors, my...

Before and after restoring my 30 foot cold molded fishing boat

This year has been really hot, last week, on this boat, I actually had my personal best day of fishing ever with 6 marlin and 20 sailfish. Couldn't get a ton of good Marlin pics, but I got a few and then a few sailfish pics as well. Check them out! Really big one, but the shots didn't turn out...

Before and after restoring my 30 foot cold molded fishing boat

Yeah, I hate the kicking it in and out of gear and hearing the thud. Right now it's not super bad because this thing is pretty light and the prop isn't that big, but I like the idea of the slow start tranny. I hadn't even heard about it, but somebody on the hull truth sent me a link and it's a...

Yeah, the wood is so much nicer because you never itch afterwards and the epoxy doesn't smell bad! I love working with fiberglass in molds and on the table, but when you start sanding that stuff, especially with the makita, that fiberglass dust is EVIL!:devilish:

Before and after restoring my 30 foot cold molded fishing boat

On the electronics, I am actually putting a new furuno 1870 in it in about a week in the wood boat, it's sitting in customs now as they try to figure out what it is to charge me tax! Right now it's got a 12 year old Furuno GPS that is going strong, but I really like the newer processing on the...

Before and after restoring my 30 foot cold molded fishing boat

Ha, it cost a fortune to do here as well. The labor wasn't so bad, since it was only me and a friend doing all the work, but man I had to ship down all the materials and pay import tax, really took a beating! It does ride pretty well. It's a flat bottomed boat in the back, so we don't go...

Before and after restoring my 30 foot cold molded fishing boat

It was fun, but it was a lot of work. I made the mistake of building two boats back to back. I built a 28 foot panga here, from the hull up, to do rooster fishing trips, and then the day after that boat went in the water, I was still in the building mood and I jumped right on this one. I...

Before and after restoring my 30 foot cold molded fishing boat

We spent 7 days a week, 14 hours a day, getting her back to new. Had to bring it all the way down to the hull and do a couple of patches, put in new hull and motor supports (the wood beams the motor sits on) and then built a small cabin up front with the bathroom and a ton of rod holders! It was...

Painting fish on the bottom of the boat

Thanks, hopefully the fish will like it too! :)

Painting fish on the bottom of the boat

Finally decided to get serious about the underside of the boat! There were some dis-laminated spots on the bottom, so I went out and got some vinyl ester resin and some Kevlar and got the bottom back to new. Let it sit for two weeks with some heat lamps, and then did an epoxy barrier coat by...
