    Sunrise razors!

Easy limits once again on the Peninsula (6/3) Many large (5") and Jumbos (6"+) this season. I've never seen so many "necking".....there was well over a hundred necking at any given time in our dig area. Last day of the WA spring razor season is June 7

    Shimano reel

With a running steelhead you have to backreel like a madman.

    Shimano reel

Jerry McGinnis of the Fishin' Hole (ESPN) did a show on the Columbia in the John Day reach. They targeted smallies with jigs. He was in direct the whole time with a spinning reel, back reeling as the fish ran. It got my attention.

    Shimano reel

No, not exactly. There is no pawl, those are in the old school reels that had the "happy switch" where you could switch them from on the drag to direct. Fishing spinners in fast water, I loved those old reels because I need to be in direct to control spinner blade RPM. As of about 1990, all...

    Shimano reel

Shimano 200/201 is "steelhead size". We run 10# and 12# on them for steelhead and occasionally tangle with Chinook. Those are good line weights for that frame size. Drag is not the issue because you supplement drag with your thumb. It's about capacity because you'll want a reel that is better...

    What to name my boat

Star Wars peeps would like it. Maybe Millennium Falcon or Death Star ?

    What to name my boat

None of the above. Need more sophistication. Through history boats/ships were referred to in the female gender. "She went straight into Harm's Way, on that moonless night." So.... Miss Behavin' Miss Stress (or Mistress) Off Duty (let folks wonder about what you do) Cops might look the other...

    Night fishing for brown bullheads

Those are Mustards. Channel Cats are the big dogs and they don't generally monkey around in ponds. They like flowing water (rivers). The Snake River has a good population. You don't hear much about them in the Metro area.

    John Day bank access?

Yes, Cottonwood is the new state park on the former Murtha Ranch. A very good starting point. Bank access is certainly not "almost everywhere" in that canyon. Roads don't generally follow the river and there is lots of private land. Access will be at "points". Get a good map (BLM or Road Atlas)...
