    Coho fishing with yarn

I've been meaning to go up to the hatchery, but I hate combat fishing. It's probably not as bad as people say, but I used to fish the Oswego river in New York, and It has scarred me for life. I guess it's still worth a shot. Can you cross there with a cheap Kmart raft. I wouldn't want to carry...

    Coho fishing with yarn

Well, I will definitely be building my own spinners from now on. Lost four blue foxes. I have a full cart at Lure Parts Online, but I wanted to check the forum before I purchased anything. Any of you guys build your own, and where do you buy your spinner bits from?

    Sandy float

I would have to go super early, as I have school at 2pm at rock creek. From what I hear, oxbow to Dabney is pretty calm. I would go on the clack too. I talk to a guy all the time when i'm up near dodge.

    Coho fishing with yarn

That sounds like a lot of quality information guys. Much appreciated. I've been using red, braded 20 lb line in my setup, but I find it hard to see when it's overcast. Is yellow or green easier to see? Another thing. Back where i'm from, the rule was silver blades when it's sunny and bronze...

    Coho fishing with yarn

For some reason]n, I just never feel confident when i'm fishing a jig under a float. I guess that's the bass fisherman in me. probably why I never have any luck with that setup too. Screw it. Guess I'm buying some spinners. Anyone know the average size of the coho returning to the Sandy?

    Coho fishing with yarn

I scratched my first steelhead off my list this spring. I'm aiming at scratching a coho off this fall. I know people like throwing spinners, but the thought of losing new spinners on the first cast urks me. Am I greatly reducing my chances if I just stick with cork and yarn? I like the...

    Sandy trash

mpruet That's the type of stuff I see everywhere. A couple beers down by the river sounds delicious, but take em' when you leave. I'm sure I've accidentally left some trash outdoors, but deliberately leaving a bunch of empties behind is a dick move.

    Sandy trash

Sick of seeing people's garbage on the side of the river? Me too. Just wanted to ask everyone to bring a small plastic bag with you the next time you're out fishing. Fill it up. I'll try to remember too. It's up to the people who actually care about the rivers to keep them beautiful. Thanks.

    Sandy float

I'm close enough to the sandy and clack to just go whenever the conditions are right. The trask and Wilson would take some planning. I'm really itching to get my toon on a river. I have not used it enough.

    Sandy float

Yeah I guess you're right. I don't want to buy fins anyway. Do you know any spots to get any of these fish swimming the Columbia now? The Salmon counts are out of this world.

    Sandy float

What about when you hook a fish? I've only caught trout and bass from mine so far. Sometimes even they were kind of a pain in the ass to land. And that's on lakes. What's your landing strategy with larger fish?

    Sandy float

I'm looking to do an oxbow to Dabney run for coho/steel when the time is right. I haven't floated the river yet, but after hauling in rainbow stockies this summer, I'm ready for some real fish. If anyone's interested, lets use this thread to hash something out. I'm floating a 9ft fishcat...

    First steelhead of my life

I grew up in northeast PA fishing for bass, walleye, pike, musky and stocky trout. This is a whole different ball game. Last trout opener was my first time fishing in Oregon. I went to the Salmon river catching little dinkers and have been moving down-stream ever since. I've been as far down...

    First steelhead of my life

I caught it 5/18/14. It was right before 11am. It was out of the water for about an hour and a half before I had a filet in the marinade. I chrushed walnuts and mixed it with honey, syrup and butter, then, glazed the filet with that before going into the oven...
