    First year steelheading

It looks like they have only counted 48 total fish in the Clack so far https://www.portlandgeneral.com/corporate-responsibility/environmental-stewardship/water-quality-habitat-protection/fish-counts-fish-runs/clackamas-daily-fish-counts I might suggest heading to the coast streams for a...

    Rivers McKenzie River Fishing Reports

Thanks for posting, last year was just downright depressing. Lets hope numbers pick up over the falls. I have tried to fish that spot a couple of times with no luck, congratulations.

    Winter steelhead 'on the rocks'

Nice video Rodger, although I will say I almost got sea sick watching it. Your right, you have to just keep fishing through the slump. Methinks I'm going to have to "sage smudge my aura and all of my gear" to get whatever funk that is on me, OFF of me. Seems like it is turning out to be a fairly...

    Lingcod 'isopod'...

Um yeah I think I might kindly give away those fillets also.

    First Siuslaw steelhead

Well I would complain about giving up a good location, but even a little kid in Africa can tell you two things...you can get water from a Yak turd, and that is a good fishing hole...good to see a fish hooked, landed and filleted...been getting worried about the run this year...

    Steelhead rod

Sorry I didn't read the rest of the posts....if you are planning to mainly bobber fish 10' 6" rod is better choice....but really...your going to need all of them...

    Steelhead rod

9'6" Berkley Buzz Ramsey Air spinning rod (medium 8-12 lb.) is my recommendation to get started. Go get it at Bi-Mart, affordable, and they replace it, no questions asked. You can start with a cheap spinning reel (Okuma Trio) or other...works fine...until it doesn't. Seems to me that you have...

    Trolling speed

Were you running with the tide while marking that speed. Slack tide? outgoing? incoming tide? If I thought there were fish in the river, and I had a boat that would only troll at 2.5mph.....I would bait up and troll at 2.5mph...its a pretty good trolling speed anyways...depending on weight of...

Any tips for a first time steelhead angler?

Go fishing WHEN you CAN! If conditions happen to be perfect on a day you CAN go....great. If you wait for perfect conditions, or chase reports, get used to hearing "you should have been here yesterday".

    Fishing near Springfield with wife

Here is a link to the stocking schedule, which is also a list of ideas..... http://www.dfw.state.or.us/resources/fishing/trout_stocking_schedules/2015/South_Willamette_2015.pdf I've really only fished at the pond...used to carry my raft in...parked at the gate just east of the BMX track...Good...

Why does everyone think the winter run is done??

Not everyone is a stones throw from Hebo. Some systems had (have) better returns than others. FACT!

    Braided vs mono

If they bite your fishing. If you floss, your flossing... I can think of many reasons to adjust leader lengths longer than three feet. Maybe faster current, maybe fish are suspended, or a method I've been messing with (drift dogging). In an effort to mimic the bobber doggers I'll tie on an...

    Stick a fork in it!

Likewise, good to meet you, I've been meaning to stop and say howdy...I'm guessing (could be wrong)...no fish up there? I tried many spots, ended up over halfway to Swisshome...not a sniff...maybe the full moon is killing the bite.

    Stick a fork in it!

Agreed! Thank you for the time and effort you guys put in! It sounds like Letz Creek is going to get back in action after the water woes they have had which will be a shot in the arm as well.
