    Fourmile brook trout, maybe splake?

Nice fish! It definitely looks like a brook trout, and not a bull or laker, with the red fins that you pointed out. I've never caught a splake, so I can't tell if that is what it is, but it is at least part, and most likely all, brook trout.

    Fourmile Lake Fishing Reports

The special regulations don't say anything about fishing hours for Fourmile, so it's open the normal times, 1 hour before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset. The only special reg is a limit of 25 kokanee in addition to the trout limit. Nearby Lake of the Woods is open 24 hours and also has the bonus...

    Fourmile Lake Fishing Reports

We got lucky with the mosquitoes; I didn't see a single one the whole trip, but I guess it can get pretty bad later in the year. The rainbow actually had red meat and its fins weren't worn down at all, so it might be a holdover from a past plant. I'm not sure how fast Mackinaw grow, but if many...

    Fourmile Lake Fishing Reports

Here's some pictures from Fourmile lake this weekend. I caught a rainbow and two lake trout (the first time I've caught any). The rainbow bit powerbait, and the lakers bit worms on the bottom. The group I was with also caught some more rainbows and lake trout. My first lake trout The...

    Topsy Pumpkinseed and Perch

I think I got about six of them, but I wasn't counting closely. I didn't get any on the lures, and if I had switched to redworms earlier I probably would have got more.

    Topsy Pumpkinseed and Perch

I didn't try it, but they would probably like poppers or even standard dry flies. The area was pretty shallow, so the fish would probably look up for a fly. I think the bypass region is kept relatively cool by springs in the river, so it might actually get cooler (and have more trout) farther...

    Topsy Pumpkinseed and Perch

I went to Topsy on Saturday and ended up catching some pumkinseed, a perch, and a tui chub. I also got to test out a new rod and reel (a Zebco Crappie Fighter combo) and it worked well, especially considering the price. The pumpkinseed all bit a redworm under a weighted float, and most of them...

Crappie and Perch From The Bank

Thanks for the help everyone, I'll definitely try these suggestions. I don't have any weighted bobbers, but I'll get some before heading out to Topsy this weekend. I also recently got a new rod and reel combo that is meant for crappie fishing. It's longer and more sensitive than my other rods...

Crappie and Perch From The Bank

I've been fishing at Topsy/J.C. Boyle Reservoir as well as Wilson Reservoir on the Lost River near Klamath Falls. They are both pretty murky, so I can't see any fish or structure unless it extends above the water or is very shallow. I think that Topsy is supposed to have better fishing for...

Crappie and Perch From The Bank

Does anybody have any tips for catching crappie and perch from the bank? I've tried the usual lures and baits like jigs, spinners, small crankbaits, worms, and salmon eggs, but I haven't seen any fish yet. I'm not sure what kind of action I should be adding to the jigs, so that's probably also...

    How do you clean fish?

Never thought about the crab pots like that. Maybe I just need to bring some Crayfish traps with me!

    How do you clean fish?

I'm planning to fish for some Crappie soon, and I was wondering what the best way to clean the fish would be if there isn't a cleaning station, due to not being allowed to clean fish in the water. Do you dig a hole and bury the guts in there or just put them in plastic bags, then throw them...

I need some help with spinners!

I finally got to try out the new spinner, and I didn't see it spinning at all, or notice it wobbling, so the changes must have worked. Now that I know the Water Gremlin sinkers work, i'll buy a couple packages and paint some up in different colors. Thanks again for all the help, and sorry for...

I need some help with spinners!

Thanks for all the help everybody. To answer the questions: Yes, I was using the beads to secure the bottom loop. When I tried spinning the wire in my fingers, the hook stayed in the center of the loop, so I think they're balanced. I'm not sure where the company gets there clevises. I used some...

I need some help with spinners!

Hopefully this picture will upload correctly. I tried these spinners in the water again yesterday, and I noticed that the spinner with two plastic beads seems to wobble and spin more than the spinner with only one, so that might have something to do with it. Maybe I should try making a spinner...
