Default Joro79 new to the forum

Hi guys,
I am new to the forum. I just want to say that it is such a great resource. I was looking for something like this forum for the last year and I am happy that I found it. I have been fishing in Oregon for an year, although I have been fishing for about 15 years. I am originally from Bulgaria, a country in Eastern Europe and I am used to fish for Chub and Carp so there are a lot of new species for me here.
I am fishing in the ponds around Beaverton for stocked trout, Henry Hagg Lake and Sauvie Island. I am trying to find a good Carp and Bass fishing spot around Portland. Sauvie Island did not work for me well last year but I am hoping that 2008 will be better. I heard that there are a lot of catfish there.

Well that is for me right now, I will try to update you on my fishing trips and results.

Welcome to the forum Joro. I hope you enjoy the US as much as you did your homeland.

Hi EJ,

I am enjoying it a lot. Especially the trout fishing. I am still trying to catch a bass but without any success so far. I am pretty it will happen this year .
BTW besides bass, crappie, trout, catfish, carp, salmon, sturgeon, shad, is there any other fish here in the northwest that you can fish?

Hey Joro, welcome to OFF. I don't know much about carp and chub, but you're bound to run into somebody on here that does. Can't wait to hear some of your fishing stories...from Portland and Bulgaria. On a side note, one of my favorite professors at UofO is from Bulgaria. I loved his stories from back home.

Welcome Joro I too attend PSU. For Bass all you need to do is wait for the water temp to rise a little and then walk down to the water front and Tom McCall park in D town Portland. Bobber and a worm around the docks is a sure fire way to nail a Smallie Bass. Maybe we can meet up after school somtime and fish.

Hi JT,
We definitely should do that. let me know when the time is right. One day I saw a guy fishing from the docs in the waterfront, and he was catching some sort of suckers, any idea what kind of fish was that?
